Pico Duarte

We took the long way up to the top of Pico Duarte, the highest point in the Dominican Republic and in all the Caribbean islands. It was a five day round-trip hike up and down through some of the most varied landscape I'd seen in such a small area. We filled our canteens from the clear mountain streams and enjoyed the solitude, seeing only four other hikers during the trip.
