Even for someone who enjoys a lot of yelled/shrieked/"cookie monster" vocals, it's precisely Envy's vocals that prevent me from loving their stuff (vs. merely liking it). "All the footprints..." is definitely my favorite of theirs, with melodic hardcore crashing into extended post-rock build-ups. But those vocals...

If this was an instrumental album, it would get at least a 3.9.

I appreciate the influence of this album, with some folks crediting it with inventing noise rock. But it's the one from the Velvets that I listen to least. Influence isn't everything.
